CPART

An integral component of the Syriac Corpus is an electronic lexicon. We have decided to include a fully functioning lexicon with the corpus, and have chosen Jessie Payne-Smith’s Compendious Syriac Dictionary for this purpose. We are in the process of turning this dictionary into a lexical database, which can be used both in the tagging process, but also in connection with the corpus. Thus each word in the tagged corpus will be linked to an entry in the lexicon, enabling one to jump from a given word in the corpus to the relevant dictionary entry, and vice versa to jump from the dictionary to examples in the concordance.
